Fishermen

Cooperativo Leyes de Reforma
Bahia Asuncion Baja California Sur
Mexico
Leyes de Reforma is a co-op of artisan fishermen in the Central Pacific region of Baja, California. Working together, these fishermen launch small panga boats daily from the beach. To fish, they use traditional hand lines and low-impact hand-drawn nets to harvest their catch. Here, business is done the old-fashioned way. A simple, yet firm handshake is a fisherman’s word (see photo). This group consists of 110 pangas and 2-3 fisherman per boat.
